How to Add Facebook and Instagram Profiles to Sprout Social

Adding a Facebook Page

Step 1: Access Account Settings

In the bottom left corner of your Sprout Social dashboard, locate your profile section and click on "Account and settings" (the gear icon next to your name).

Step 2: Connect a Profile

Look for the "Connect a Profile" option in the settings menu and click on it to open the profile connection modal.

Step 3: Select Facebook

In the "Connect a Profile" modal, you'll see a grid of available social networks:

  • At the top, select your group from the "In Group" dropdown menu (e.g., "ICTV2")
  • Click the "Connect" button under the Facebook option

Step 4: Choose Account Type

You'll see two options:

  • Page - "Manage Business Pages and Messenger conversations"
  • Ad Account - "Boost Instagram and Facebook posts, and monitor ad performance"

Click "Connect Page" to add a Facebook Page.

Step 5: Authorize Sprout Social

The system will redirect you to Facebook for authorization. A message appears:

"We're sending you to Facebook for authorization. Keep in mind you may need to sign out and switch to the account you want to connect."

Click the blue "Go to Facebook" button in the bottom right.

Step 6: Select Your Facebook Page

You'll see a list of all Facebook Pages you manage:

  • Check the box next to the Page you want to connect (e.g., "Телеканал ICTV2")
  • Review the privacy policy and Terms of Service at the bottom
  • Click the blue "Продовжити" (Continue) button

Step 7: Choose Business Assets (Optional)

You may see options to grant access to specific business assets:

  • "Opt in to all current and future Компанії" - Gives Sprout Social access to all current and future companies
  • "Opt in to current Компанії only" - Gives access only to selected companies

Select the appropriate option, check the box next to the specific asset you want to connect (e.g., "ICTV Digital"), and click "Продовжити" (Continue).

Step 8: Grant Permissions

Facebook will display a list of permissions Sprout Social is requesting:

  • Manage ad account advertising
  • View and manage Facebook advertising statistics
  • Manage your company
  • Access Messenger conversations and manage them
  • Create content on your page and manage it
  • Manage comments on your page
  • Read content published on the page

Review all permissions and click the blue "Зберегти" (Save) button in the bottom right.

Step 9: Confirmation

You'll be redirected back to Sprout Social. Your Facebook Page should now appear in your connected profiles list and is ready to use for publishing, monitoring, and engagement.


Adding an Instagram Profile

Important Note: Instagram Business or Creator accounts can only be connected through Facebook. Before proceeding, ensure:
  • Your Instagram account is set to Business or Creator (not Personal)
  • Your Instagram account is linked to a Facebook Page in Instagram settings

Step 1: Access Account Settings

Follow the same steps as for Facebook: In the bottom left corner, click "Account and settings".

Step 2: Connect a Profile

Click "Connect a Profile" to open the connection modal.

Step 3: Select Instagram

In the "Connect a Profile" modal:

  • Select your group from the "In Group" dropdown (e.g., "ICTV2")
  • Click the "Connect" button under Instagram (shown with pink/gradient border)

Step 4: Choose Instagram Account Type

You'll see three options:

  • Creator Profile - "Manage publishing, engagement, and analytics for your Creator profile"
  • Business Profile - "Manage publishing, engagement, and analytics for your Business profile"
  • Personal Profile - "Instagram Personal Profiles are not available at this time. Click here for more information"

Click "Connect Creator" or "Connect Business" depending on your account type.

Step 5: Confirm Instagram Setup Requirements

A checklist screen appears: "Have you converted your Instagram account to a Business Profile?"

Make sure you've completed these steps before continuing:

  1. You've converted your profile to a Business Profile in the Instagram app. Learn more.
  2. You're an Admin on your Facebook Page. Learn more.
  3. You've attached your Facebook Page to your Instagram Business Profile. Learn more.

Once confirmed, click the blue "Yes, all set" button in the bottom right.

Step 6: Authorize on Facebook

The authorization screen appears: "Authorize Sprout Social on Facebook for Instagram"

Message states: "Sprout Social needs permission from Facebook in order to access and publish content to Instagram on your behalf. To grant permission, you must be an admin for your brand's Facebook page."

Additional note: "We're sending you to Facebook for authorization. This is required to connect an Instagram Business Profile. Keep in mind you may need to sign out and switch to the account you want to connect."

Click the blue "Go to Facebook" button in the bottom right.

Steps 7-9: Facebook Authorization

The remaining steps are identical to the Facebook connection process (Steps 6-8 from the Facebook section):

  • Select your Facebook Page
  • Choose business assets (if applicable)
  • Grant permissions
  • Click "Зберегти" (Save)

Step 10: Confirmation

You'll be redirected back to Sprout Social. Your Instagram profile should now appear in your connected profiles list, linked to the associated Facebook Page.


Verification

After connecting both profiles, verify the connection:

  1. Check the Profiles List: Go to Settings → Publishing and Profiles. Confirm both Facebook and Instagram profiles appear with "Connected" status.
  2. Test Publishing Access: Go to the Publishing tab, click Compose, and verify both profiles appear in the profile selector.
  3. Check Smart Inbox: Navigate to Messages/Inbox and confirm you can see message streams for both profiles.
  4. Verify Team Access: If working with a team, go to Settings → Users and Permissions to ensure team members have appropriate access.

Notes

  • You can connect multiple Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts to the same Sprout Social workspace
  • Team members' access to profiles can be managed through user permissions settings
  • If connection issues occur, try disconnecting and reconnecting the profile
  • For Instagram, make sure it's converted to a Business or Creator account in the Instagram app settings
